2.) This statue is young mary.

3.) It is the only piece of art that Michelangelo signed.

4.) The word pieta is Italian for “pity” because mary is holding a dead body of Christ.

5.) Someone broke that statue before but they repaired it and put glass around it so no one could get in.


Summary

The person who made this art was Michelangelo.
He didn’t want this statue to represent death it was
for religion. This sculpture was made for funeral monument but it was move to a different location. This is the only peice that Michelangelo ever signed! This sculpture was housed in St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican city.
